Diligence asks:
good company?
‍We ask:
what breaks under load?

The technology is largely ready. What breaks now is structure. Capital is not fuel. It is load. A scale-up runs many systems at once, each on its own clock: software ships in sprints, hardware in yearly cycles, policy moves one session at a time. Capital forces the clocks to match, and the break forms where two meet.

Every function hits its own target. No one owns that intersection. Nothing fails, so nothing reports. In Energy & Resilience, too many scale-ups stall with the money already in. We read the break before capital moves.

We run the diagnostic.

UnderLoad is the Capital Load Diagnostic for Energy & Resilience scale-ups. ‍
Not new science. Banks stress-test balance sheets, engineers calculate bridges, aircraft are certified, each against a defined load. Growth capital is still committed by reading each part on its own: market, technology, team, financials.

We read one capital situation: a follow-on, a bridge, a major rollout, or a position stalling under the capital it carries. A KPI rates one system. A tension pair tests whether two hold together under the planned load. Nothing is averaged: the weaker side counts.

Five sources, each collected apart: the funding profile, the KPIs, each CXO alone, the team who will close the gates, and one independent senior operator who has run a company in the segment. Fixed patterns, fixed rules, no black box: same inputs, same result. The operator’s judgment sits beside the result. It doesn’t move it.

Both sides get one report: the Capital State, its evidence and the Load Release Plan. Inside the company, a blocker is a gate: name the evidence, close it, release the tranche. Outside, it’s a date: no money moves against a clock the company doesn’t set. A Pulse re-reads every three to six months.

A Stop names where the lever sits. With the investor, it’s a turnaround: restructure to a load the company can carry. With no one inside the deal, don’t deploy.

‍Diligence protects you from buying the wrong company. The Capital Load Diagnostic protects you from what the right company does under your money. You need both.‍‍‍
READ EARLY,
AND YOU CHOOSE.

READ LATE,
AND tHE CLOCK CHOOSES.
The instrument exists now.
Judge it by the report.
On the call we walk a full read of one of five fictional demo companies, Series B to D. All five would pass diligence. The reads still differ: one deploys clean, and one is a Stop where the lever sits with the investors. You see the actual report: the Capital State, the evidence, the Load Release Plan.

Name the load

The one you are least sure of: a follow-on, a bridge, your next round, or the position that stopped moving. Bring the hardest one.

Forty-five minutes, one full read, start to finish.

Built for capital that bears the outcome — family offices, direct-investing LPs, corporate balance sheets — and for the scale-up that would rather find the break before the round than after it.

Either side can commission the read, and the state comes out the same. An investor can make it a condition of the round: the company takes part, and both sides see the same report.
